What do you mean a "stand alone backup book"? Post the full model of your computer.

Hi - My computer is Windows XP - Version 2002.
I'd like to back up all the info I put onto it each week in case it crashes.
I'd heard or read somewhere about a free-standing disc that you could back up to and that is what I was looking for.

Your computer is running WinXP SP2. What is the brand and model of the computer?

Thanks for trying to help but I can only tell you that it's an iQon.
Other info is AMD Athlon (tm) 64x2 dual.
Thank you

Is it a laptop or desktop? Look on the bottom or back for model numbers. What country do your live in?

Response #6 shows an external USB hard drive. The issue is how much space you will need. At the very minimum you need to keep two backup sets. If you overwrite your only one and something goes wrong then you have none.

So the size of the external drive matters. I can't find anything on your computer. Still don't even know if it is a laptop or desktop. Don't you knwo the difference. Look at My computer and see what size hard drive you have. If the drive is anywhere near full you should get an external at least twice the capacity as your internal hard drive.

The link above in #6 shows a unit with backup software included. That would be good for your use.
