Specs: Windows XP, p4
While doing a bios

update on my ibm

x41 netvista the

power went out

before it

finished. now when

i power-up the

unit i get

postcode beeps(one

long two short)how

can i restore the

Bios?

Only if IBM offers a disaster proof bios.

In the future NEVER update a bios just for fun. ONLY update when an exact problem you have is exactly mentioned in the bios update.

You probably can't recover from that unless you're getting a BOOT BLOCK BIOS or similar message on the screen.

If your bios chip is removable, you can order another one, already flashed with the latest bios update, and replace it yourself.

If your bios chip is soldered into the mboard, which is usually the case these days, you can remove the mboard and ship it to a professional who will replace the bios chip with one that is already flashed with the newest bios update, and he'll ship it back to you.
However, that may cost you more than a used mboard for your model.

I suspect this is almost a 10 year old computer. Kind of hard to justify working on it too much.

If this is somewhat new like last two years then post the exact model number.
