I have a Seagate 40gb 7200 RPM Ultra ATA/100 hard drive for my IBM ThinkCentre. I'd like to upgrade it to a larger gb hard drive. I found one (Tigerdirect.com) but want to be sure if I can use it. It's a Hitachi 7K1000.C 0F10379 Deskstar Hard Drive - 250GB, 3.5", 7200 RPM, SATA 3G, 8MB Cache. Even though mine is ATA and the Hitachi is SATA can I use it? When I searched ATA it fell under the ATA/SATA hard drives. If I can't use it where can I get the right one that won't be too expensive? I've found some hard drives under $50 from 250gb on down. Thanks.

If that is a M50, You have ATA-100 AND SATA I HDD controllers, so yes, that Hitachi SATA HDD should work.
