Hi Experties..

I am working in PC hardware department. here we have almost IBM tower model systems.
recently a PC got Blue screen error. I was fixing it by some technically steps,
now its not working properly.
So I deceded to chang the operating system. I inserted the XP cd and started reinstalling the os. Its loaded all the files and restarted and its about to show the xp BOOTING.
but not done. its hanged there itself.I waited for arround thirty minutes.
then I disconnected HDD and CD rom from system and started the system with 256 RAM,
it startd, but again its hanging here also.

Whats the couse and please tell me the troubleshooting method.

Thanks in ADV.

DJ..

Do u see any hdd activity when it hang? I suspect bad hdd or ram, u can test ram using memtest. Go to hdd manufacture website and download diagnostic soft for hdd testing or u can use ultimatebootcd(contains alot of tools and it doesn't need os).

How did u expect computer to boot without hard drive? Connect the hdd and enter bios and check if it is there, if on disable ibm logo screen.

As I told we have most of IBM tower model desktops.

I frequently installing operating system on system for users.while installing I use to touch heatsink for other jpurpose.
this heatsink is 70% heats than anyother HS.

so I guess this/../

"Its loaded all the files and restarted" (copying process reach 100% and countdown timer starts or press enter to restart). During this process if the cpu throttle(the first step cpu takes to protect itself) it will take a very long time to finish that process. If u decide to mess with heatsink make sure u know how to apply thermal paste.

Hello Kuwese.

I solve the problem myself only...
Actually that problem occur because of bad RAM.
I just removed a 256 MB RAM and it worked fine for me..
Thanks a lot for reposing me..
