a) you do not advise your location, which may help with suggestions asto your battery problem.
Googling here in the UK throws up a number of suggestions.
b) each dos application supported a range of printers, by including the required drivers. Generally these are for dot matrix type with a few of the earlier laser ones.
Not many with colour either.
Suggest you check which printers the dos application(s) you will be running support.
There were a few 'standards', such as IBM Proprinter, IBM Graphics, Epson MX, etc. Thus other printers tended to offer an emulation of such.
I use an OKI ML192 Elite emulating an IBM Graphics.
Had many of these installed - truly the dot matrix Rolls Royce.
This is a 9 pin, dot matrix, standard width printer.
Still going strong without problem for 20-25 years.
Best to use ribbons from the maker.
