I want to upgrade my CPU, should i do it?

Specs: Windows 7
I have a AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core 2.50 GHz.. should I upgrade it..? What should I upgrade it into for it to be worth my money..?

I mostly use my comp to surf the net and play SC2 it doesn't seem worth it to spend $200 improve my speed to .50 GHz .. but i could be wrong..

You didn't list the make/model of your motherboard or how much RAM you have.

sry i didn't know i have to tell my ram + motherboard also..

have 6gb ram

but i have no idea what mother i have exactly.. but i did a SIW scan.. it said i have a

DKA790GX (MS-7550) v.1

You could upgrade to one of the Phenom II X4's or even an X6 but as you stated, it would cost close to $200. How about an Athlon II X4 instead? You can get the 640 (3.0GHz) for about $100 & should be able to sell your 9850 for about $75, so the net upgrade cost would only be about $25. Plus the Athlon II X4 only runs at 95W, your Phenom runs at 125W, so you'd also be saving on your electric bill.

Find the Athlon II X4 640 on the following chart, your Phenom is about 30 CPUs beneath it:

i never knew i need all of these info about my comp 0_0


and is there that much of a difference between 2.50 GHz and 3.00 GHz..? I like the saving energy part of the deal if i upgrade :)
