Specs: Windows 7, 512mb ram
Hi all here
I am thinking now of building my own customized small mini traveling netbook notebook laptop.
The idea is similar to those regular 7" netbooks 2GB nand flash 128 mb ram wifi windows ce 6.0; But i need something better then those ones, these are too poor for me and freezes every now and then..

So i thought to build it as follows:
screen size will be 8 inch
nand flash will be 8 GB
Ram will be 512 MB
Should have also a built-in Webcam
and about the WINDOWS i am still doubting what to install; will an XP version fit with a 512MB ram and 8GB hard drive? The other side i am doubting, what is wrong with Win ce 6.0, is there any of todays famous programs that doesn't go with win ce 6.0? I just don't know much about these

Please share with me your professionalism about these stuff.. and tell me if a 512ram and 8gb hard drive will do MUCH MUCH better for my netbook than the usual nerbooks that come just with 128ram and 2gb hard drive.. And as well about an 8 inch instead of a 7 inch screen..

What do you mean by "building"? If you mean build from scratch, then you're gonna be tasked with creating or finding a suitable case, mobo, power supply, etc. that will far exceed the cost of anything you could purchase.

If you mean building from a manufacturers web-catalog, then you should realize that most netbooks are pre-installed with Win7, not XP; and most new machines will have hardware that doesn't have XP drivers. What you're describing you need was available in the ASUS EeePC lineup and other machines more than 3 years ago (though your 512MB of RAM is somewhat low for XP). An N-Lited version of XP on mine only took up around 600-800MB, so 8GB would be more than enough storage for most folks. If your needs are that small, you'd save a lot of $ by just looking for a used netbook instead of trying to build one up...
