Adding more RAM should at least speed up the launching and execution of your software apps. What is it that appears to be running slower since doubling the RAM in your laptop?

I assume you're running Vista? 1GB RAM is the minimum recommended. If you're familiar enough with computers, you should know that the minimum never provides decent performance. Doubling the RAM amount to 2GB should show a significant performance boost in just about everything you do. Even if you bought the wrong speed (slower) RAM, the doubling from 1GB to 2GB would more than make up for it.

the launching of the computer is whats slower, after i start it up i basically have to wait about a minute or 2 before i use the laptop. when i start it up and i immediately start clicking stuff like internet explorer or the start button everything operates much slower then it did before i added the RAM. after a while it runs smooth but i just dont like how slow it is in the beginning of the start up, it didnt do that when i had 1gb of ram so idk

Like I said, I think it's a figment of your imagination. Unless you immediately added a bunch of garbage software right after you installed the new RAM? Run MSCONFIG & disable all the useless startup apps. And if you don't have CCleaner-Slim, install it & use it regularly.

oh i used the msconfig and checked out the system information and look what it says:
Total physical memory 2,037.56 MB
Available physical memory 1.00 GB
Total virtual memory 4.20 GB
Available Virtual memory 3.18 GB
Page file space 2.28 GB

why does it say i only 1 gb of available physical memory??? maybe thats the problem!

why does it say i only 1 gb of available physical memory?
It means only 1GB is free & another 1GB is already used, open task manager and check which app use more memory.
