Specs: Windows 7
HI there,

I resized a partition using Ease Us partition program and I had an error while doing it. It then made the partition I was resizing lost, it came up with saying the drive needed to be reformatted.

So I went and got Active partition recovery program. I did a scan and stopped it a few gigabytes into the scan. It saw the files.

So I then went ahead and done the full scan to get the whole drive over night. I came back in the morning and I dont know if it found the files, didnt seem ike it. It gave me a recover button, I pressed that. It wanted a new drive letter, I gave it that too.

But it didnt do anything for me, I did another scan and i finds nothing after me stopping it after a few gig scanned.

I have tried Ease Us partition recovery and Stellar as well but to no success of finding it.

The drive still has the original volume label on it.

This partition is 420gb and I have ALOT of stuff on it, it was basically full.

Can someone please help? Thanks in advance.

Disk repair is a slow task. I tried a disk recovery program on a 500 GB drive with 8 partitions. It took 10 days to just scan the drive.

yep it took a long time for that.

I tried putting it in my desktop PC and it gave me th correct drive letter in the other system but it tells me the MFT is corrupt when running CHKDSK and goes to fix it but cannot fix the problem.

I tried using 'photorec' and I think it was finding stuff on there but its all jumbled. So I managed to get another enclosure for my new 1tb hdd I bought and am going to copy the questionable partition on that to try and run TESTDISK to fix the MFT. I hope it will rescue it.

Check your HDD with WDC's Data Lifeguard diagnostic software. It appears the drive is bad.

ill use the software you mentioned but it wasnt due to a hardware fault. It was software related that caused the program to crash while resizing.

my notebook overheated 50% into copying the partition to my other drive which took 7 hours, so just retarted again :(

Those WD tools are useless sorry, they do nothing but scan for bad sectors.
