Solved I need the help of a Laptop reassembly expert

Specs: windows 7, 4gb
I had to take apart a laptop today to replace a jack board. While doing so, I unhooked a ribbon from the mobo, It has the kind of little black locking device that has little ears on each side that you push forward to pull out the cable. Well, the little locking device pulled all the way out, and both sides look very similar (but not exact), and now I don't which way it goes back. Please help...Thanks

50-50 chance of getting it right.

Any indication on the cable or "little black locking device" of where Pin 1 may be? The cable or "device" may show a marking of some sort to indicate its' polarity. If you can determine that and determine something on the board that matches, then that would improve your chances of getting it plugged-in correctly.

The "clip" isn't part of the ribbon cable, it secures the end of the cable in the connector. The end of the cable is "raw". I did exactly what the OP did when I was working on a laptop recently - I pushed too hard & the black clip popped out of the connector & I wasn't sure which way it was supposed to go. There are 2 possibilities, but only one of them will work. 50-50 chance. Here's a pic showing it:

if you do get it back correctly then be sure to lift it up a bit before you try to stab the ribbon back in. Then when the ribbon is in you can press it back down.
