I need some suggestions for my wireless mouse

February 16, 2011 at 13:50:08
Specs: Windows XP
I have a Microsoft model 1023 that I am using with my PC with XP. The receiver that goes into the USB port stops functioning time and time again. The green light on receiver turns off and the mouse stops working. So I take receiver out and put back in a few times until the light comes on. Sometimes I have to shut the PC down from the button on the CPU and turn on again to make the receiver work...getting the picture.
Do I need a driver or software?

Here's a suggestion - AVOID wireless mice & keyboards. I simply cannot understand why anyone would use these. I mean, wireless mouse or keyboard does what for you...., besides costing you $ with batteries & giving you headaches? You have to sit close to the monitor to see whats on the screen, so, it's not like you can take your wireless mouse & KB in the next room and work on your PC.

WIRED mice & KB's - plug 'em in - snap - always works - all (majority) the time - no batteries - no resetting the bluetooth wireless connections - I just don't get why these bluetooth input devices are even used.

Just another stupid saying...

The fact that the light on the receiver keeps going off would indicate a problem with that and not the actual mouse itself. Try a different port and see if that is any better, it may be a loose connection in that particular port.. If that doesn't work it may be time for a shopping trip.

You should not need any drivers at all. Windows just treats the USB adapter as another input device and really doesn't know or care if it is a wireless mouse and a conventional mouse.

There is nothing wrong with a wireless mouse if it is set up correctly. I have one, and a cheap one at that, that works perfectly well from the other side of the room. It is just one less wire to trip over or to knock my beer over with. The only time need to reset the device is when a change batteries and not even then if I do it quick enough.
