Specs: Windows 7
I have a Mad Dog TEAC model FD-05PUW(external floppy disk drive unit) that is faulty. Are any still available? I was made in Milaysia.

Kind of expensive. But just about any USB floppy drive should work for you.

I want to extend the original poster's question.

I have many old floppy disks, but no longer have the drives I used
to record them. The last time I bought a floppy drive was in 2009.
It was a Sony MPF920-Z, and cost only $12 at my neighborhood
computer store. It worked well, but I no longer have it. The store
also no longer exists. I want to get a drive that will be most likely
to be able to read my old disks-- most of them from before 2009.
Either internal or external is fine.

Any recommendations?

Try a thrift store like Goodwill, Amvets, Savers. You should be able to get an entire tower for less than the cost of a new floppy drive. And who knows what you'll find? The tower might work as-is, or it can be gutted for parts - floppy, HDD, RAM, power supply, etc. You might get lucky on the 1st try, or you might have to stop by several times until a decent one shows up.

Floppy disks are pretty much obsolete now, I can't remember the last time I used one or bought any. Anything important that I'd saved to floppies was transferred to more suitable media years ago, that's what you should have done.

Compared to higher-capacity alternatives, floppy disks and drives are useless now.
