Specs: Windows XP
I just installed another 512mb of RAM on my hp a335w to increase the total RAM to 1G. It is identical to the other 512 card I installed a couple years ago to replace the 256 that came on the system. Everything is plugged back in and powers up, but my monitor is in sleep mode. When I turn it off and back on, I get "no signal" on the screen, then it goes back off. What have I left undone, or could I have dislodged something inside the case? I was careful, and don't think I did. There was really nothing in the way. I did have trouble seating the card, but kept trying until the locks snapped into place, and it was flush with the other card. I have a Pentium 4 2+ghz processor, running Windows XP Home, sp3.

It is in sleep mode because there is no video signal for some reason. Test that monitor on a known working system first. Then may have to re-check that you don't have an internal video as bios may have reverted back to it somehow. Other reasons is you uprooted your video card or burned it out or may have damaged some connector either one card or board.

My monitor is new...got it right after Christmas. With the age of my machine, I am inclined to agree that it is my video card. At least a new vid card is way cheaper than a new computer! I want a new computer, just can't afford one right now. Thanks for your response!
