what cables are plugged into your monitor? more than 1?
are you sure your pc doesnt turn off when this happens?

you can change default input to your monitor with the buttons on the bottom right of your monitor. you can change this from "Auto" to "whatever cable you are using (hdmi/vga/dvi(-d)/blabla)"

did you inset the cable into your motherboard or strait into your video card(given that you have one)?

my g2460vq6 would also not display anything untill i put the cable directly into my dicrete video-card (rx570)

We really need more information about the system (model and.or components), some background history, whether the computer is new, recently built, recently upgraded (including/especially graphics), if the monitor has worked with this computer and/or other machines, as well as any recent problems, installs, or software updates. Have you tried another monitor?
Do you have the latest motherboard and graphics drivers?
Are you sure that the computer is fully on when this happens? I have had systems that hang on wake from sleep and the most common fix that works is to set under power settings for the hard drive to 'Never' power down. Since it does power down when the machine sleeps (including hybrid sleep) you do not need this on and it appears to hang the computer at the point of transitioning into sleep so it does not properly awaken. My theory is that in hybrid sleep the system causes the RAM to both preserve state in sleep and copy itself to the drive but if the drive is powered down then it may not have time to wake, store, and then power down again in the time allowed for the process.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

you should try setting your system power mode from balanced to high performance.

if that doesnt work, try the menu on the monitor itself its in post #1
or did you try that already?
