Solved I have a Dell Studio 540 and the CD/ DVD does not read disks

Specs: Windows Vista
I have a Dell Studio 540 and the CD/ DVD is not working now. I have purchase another and installed and still not working. It says the device drivers has an Error 39.

How do I resolve this issue?

I have looked at a review that puts your system at at least 7 years old. 2008. With reasonable usage over this time period it is likely the laser(s) in the old drive wore out.

After you installed the new drive did you look in device manager? I'm almost sure you would see warning symbols against optical drives such as DVD/CD.

Go into device manager and have a look. If there is a warning symbol against the device right click and update drivers. Windows is pretty good at finding the appropriate software for optical drives this way. Another method could be to select CD/DVD and select uninstall drivers and rebooting. This will cause Windows to detect new hardware and search and install the appropriate drivers for it.
