Specs: Windows 7
I would like to know where to find the cmos battery as it tells me that it is running low and I cant find it anywhere .this machine is running a 486/sx processor on a DTK motherboard .It is an oldie but I am told that it was working fine before it was replaced . .

Any advice would be extremely helpful.

Please remove your email from #5 before the spammers engines find it and you get junk email forever.

Any chance of uploading a photo of your mobo onto one of those freebie websites? Maybe we will be able to spot the CMOS battery and recognise it. If it's a CR2032 it is silver looking button cell about the width of a thumb. It might be something else but I've not had any luck identifying the mobo.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

You didn't say which model DTK motherboard. Anyway, looking at the following pic, the CMOS battery is located at the end of the first expansion slot, it looks like a small silver coin: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/2310...

Most likely to be a CR2032 - not expensive.

The various types found on older motherboards were discussed here:

http://www.computing.net/answers/ha...

The rechargable ones (that usually corrode) were often located near the keyboard port, at least on AT style boards.

Don't forget to preorder your Hatch green chili for this fall. Many vendors ship world-wide.

Aha, I might be wrong at #2. I was looking at the motherboard posted at #1 but now realise it might not be yours at all.

The PEM 2531D is a 386 motherboard, not 486, and I assume when you say it has an AMD 381 you mean an AMD 386. Here's some info on it from a Th99 site:

http://www.uncreativelabs.de/th99/m...

Note it has a Dallas battery which was mentioned in the link in my # 3 above. You can see its location in the TH99 diagram.
