I deleted autorun.inf file on memory-stick

January 8, 2011 at 17:29:55
Specs: Windows XP
I had a virus on my memory stick and I deleted the autorun.inf file because it had the names of the virus files in there and now when I plug my memory stick into my computer it doesn't recognize the memory stick.
When I go to Start->My Computer, the memory stick is not there in the list of drives on my computer.

What do I do?

The only thing you can do is get another memory stick. Without autorun.inf the device can't be recognized by Windows so the device is useless.

"...Without autorun.inf the device can't be recognized by Windows so the device is useless..."

... thats not the case "Dude375" I have three usb sticks all without "Autorun.inf"

... "m0nsta." have you tried restarting with the device attached?

... then click "start" run (type) diskmgmt.msc [press enter]

... do you see the usb device there?

... if so does it have a drive letter? right click "change drive letter"

... please post the brandname/number(?) and size of the stick.
