I can't start my HP laptop.

Specs: Windows XP
Yesterday it suddenly went blank and when I push the start button, the light starts and goes out quickly. And I don't hear any fan or starting hard drive.
So I unplugged and used the battery to start but it does the same thing.
Just light blinks once and goes out. NO fan or hard drive.
The screen stays completely blank whole time.
Should I recycle this one and buy new one?

Try the power cord with the battery removed. If the battery is bad then this may prove it if it starts.
If you have a laptop with XP on it then it is probably quite a few years old, I had a desktop for over 9 years with XP on it but laptops generally are not good for half of that so do not plan on spending too much on it. If you have it at around 4 years or more then consider replacing it.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Thanks for your answer.
It has Vista operating system. And I tried with and without the battery and all the other possible combination. But the result is the same.
So, I'll just buy new one.
The lap top is about 4 maybe 5 years old.
