I can't get audio on my tv how can I fix this?

Specs: Windows 8
I have an HP pavilion 23 with no HDMI port. We bought a USB adapter Fresco FL2000 to attach to an HDMI cable. The picture shows up on the TV but I have no sound. The adapter we bought states it carries video and audio. Why doesn't this work?

You will likely need special drivers, did they come with the adapter? If not, you can download them from Fresco Logic. Also, make sure you're connecting the adapter to one of the USB 3.0 ports. Those ports are on the edge of the screen & are blue. The rear USB ports are USB 2.0 & should not be used.

Drivers are available on right side of this page: https://support.frescologic.com/por...

I downloaded the driver from the Fresco website and made sure the adapter was on a 3.0 and I still have no sound.

Try right clicking on the volume icon next to the clock (lower right) & then click Playback Devices. See what's listed & if anything needs to be changed. You should also look in Device Manager to see if any problems are shown.

EDIT: another option would be to run a separate audio cable from the computer's headphone jack to the TV's audio input port. Adapters may be needed.

In the "sound" control panel (speaker icon right click > playback devices) , is the USB adapter listed as speaker? if so select it as default output. It will direct sound output to your USB adapter
