Specs: Windows XP
Hej Computing
Sc4 afdelingen.
Kan Computing hjælpe mig?
Med venlig hilsen
Rolf Tychsen

Hello Computing
I drive my old SuprCalc4 programs in Windows XP auspices.
Although only half of the computer's capacity is utilized,
communicate my SuperCalc4 program me "Full Storage" and will not
accept more input to the program.
How can I add more of the computer's capacity to
Sc4 department.
Can Computing help me?

SuperCalc4 is way back in the 1980's.

I don't know for certain but it is quite likely that the program reserved it's own HD storage area, which by modern standards would be miniscule. Not sure if there is any easy way around this issue, apart from offloading unwanted spreadsheets.

If they can be saved outside the program maybe you could offload them onto floppy or CD then call them up from there if required.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Hi Rolf

Supercalc 4 is an old dos program and not necessarily forward compatible.
For example, it has size (columns/rows) limits.

If you have a modern pc with large resources of memory and disk etc, possibly they may not be used. In some cases too much memory can cause an old dos program to fail.

I would upgrade to Supercalc 5.5 which was better than Supercalc 4, to see if the situation improves.

For example, I think SC5.5 can work with a large spreadsheet divided into pages.

If you would like to me test load your spreadsheet with SC5.5 (running under W2000) send me a private message with your email address.

If 'Full Storage' means the directory (or sub-directory) is full, this is a dos limitation on the number of files a directory (now called folder) can hold/display.
Sometimes the files are present, but their names do not show.
To correct this problem, divide the files between a number of smaller directories.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.
