I have an hp9740us notebook that runs nvidia geforce 8600m gs graphics adapter. In addition to being unable to get the graphics adapter to function there is also a white, horizontal line all the way across the screen. The video is split into two viewings, top and bottom. Recently I worked on this notebook for about 3 days straight and once it warmed up and was restarted the display corrected itself. However, it's not always warm enough for it! The line starts immediately when the disk boots up and won't go away without a restart, if then. I don't think it's the graphics adapter although I am having trouble with it also. Any ideas?

One line indicates an issue with the LCD itself.
