Good day to all. I have a HP 4GB USB flash drive that has a virus on it. The drive has no important info on it, and my question is if I format the drive will that eliminate the virus?, and when I plug the drive into the computer to format it, will that reinfect the computer I plug it into? Thanks
Ike
"will that eliminate the virus" YES
"will that reinfect the computer" YES but u disable autoplay for removable drivers the answer is NO.
U will have no problem if antivirus soft is installed and updated.
I never trust xp. I'd boot to a live linux cd and format it. Be sure to make a folder named autorun.inf on every flash drive. It helps prevent some auto run type of virus's like conflicker.
Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
Thanks much for the tips kuwese, and jefro. I thought as much kuwese, just needed someone else to confirm. Jefro, I used a Puppy Linux live cd to format the flash drive, and installed the autorun.inf folder. I appreciate all the help, and as usual I come away from this forum with more knowledge than when I entered. Thanks
and have a great day
Regards
Ike
