HP printer Use color ink to copy b&w document

August 31, 2011 at 10:59:20
Specs: Windows Vista
My HP 2610 all-in-one incorrectly uses the color cartridge to produce black ink when I copy a black print document.

However, it works properly and uses the black cartridge to print/produce a black document when I print from the internet or from Word (or anything else stored on my harddrive)

Thus, cannot be the black cartridge !

Any ideas ?

It may select the type based on the data. You may have to force it to print black in white even if the photo looks black and white.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

I'm not tryint to copy a document but, as stated, a document (a piece of white paper with black printed words on it)

But the good news is that through hours and hours of trial and error, I found the solution myself which is this>>>>> On the machine itself, using the display button,
I changed the paper type setting from automatic to plain and the enhancement setting from none to text.

The existence of this problem just shows how sorry HP is inasmuch as the settings I changed were the hP display settings

Hope this helps someone !
