What color is the blinking LED? HP shows several.

Also check in windows 10 'display settings' Is the resolution set to the 'recommended' value?

The problem is the monitor. Its the led light thats blinking the usual white with no pattern. I think the led is dead. Can this make an impact on the monitor itself? ( Btw its an actual monitor not a laptop one)

Best prove it is the monitor by seeing if it does the same on another computer. If so there is a chance that the monitor might fail sometime but have difficulty imagining it would cause any damage. In any event there is little chance of being able to fix it yourself. If you want to be super safe just ensure it is not left on all night with the light flashing.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Try this: unplug the monitor, unplug fro the computer, press the monitor's power button 4 or 5 times. Plug all in again. This will clear and charge from the internal capacitors, if the error is being held in the circuits then this will clear them. If no help you only wasted 5 minutes, if resolved, you saved yourself a lot of time and worry.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Yep, you might well be lucky with Fingers "discharge" suggestion. It has worked for me at times when odd things have happened.

The words "flashing" and "blinking" usually refer to an intentional,
repeating turning on-off-on-off pattern. The word "flickering" is most
often used to describe a light that varies erratically, as when the
electrical connection is poor and changing rapidly and unpredictably.
In that case, the light may also be dimmer than normal.

Is the latter what you see?
