hey i have a problem. i have this laptop and it used to be my dads work laptop but anyways, it has all of his old pointless software that doesnt really do anything anymore and i want to start using it but it doesnt do much. i want to be able to just completly delete and restore all origanal settings on it so that it would be completely clean! any answers on how to how to completly delete and restore all origanal settings on it so that it would be completely clean and new

If it has a restore partition or restore disk you could do it that way. Or a fresh install if you have an OS disk.

Or, go to add/remove programs in control panel and uninstall whatever you don't want. Some of the stuff there may be necessary so be careful.

well i dont have a boot disk or it doesnt even have access to the control panel, it was a strict computer and was only ment for the work programs. is there a way i can switch back on the control panel

There's no START--SETTINGS--CONTROL PANEL? Sometimes the registry is edited to disable certain things. It's usually hard to fix as the registry editing command, regedit, is often disabled too.

No recovery disks?

9X doesn't have restore points like later OS's so there's no way to revert back to a particular time.

Best thing would be to locate a 98 cd and do a fresh installation. You can always download a bootdisk file for a floppy disk from someplace like bootdisk.com but it's pretty much useless without a cd to do the actual installation.
