All I see when I turn on my laptop is a black screen that says "SMART failure predicted on hard disc #####. Warning: Immediately back up data and replace your hard disc drive. A failure may be imminent. Press F1 to continue." The PROBLEM is that when i press F1 nothing happens. The screen remains. I've tried restarted and unplugging but nothing's worked. If want to know how I can make it go to my startup screen so that I can start backing up my laptop. Pressing F1 isn't working. Please please help! My research paper is on my laptop.
Download linux puppy seamonkey http://www.puppylinux.com/download/... after download burn it to cd or dvd and use it to back your data. U can try to download diagnostic software from manufacture website to check the hdd.
I would try that if I could access my start up page but my
laptop ONLY shows the black screen with the message above.
When I press F1, the black page remains. It won't let me go to
my startup menu AT ALL. :[I'm stuck with the black screen and I want to know how I can
get to my startup menu so that I can start backing up.
May be the problem predicted by S.M.A.R.T it has already start.
Yeah that's what I'm assuming. Is there any way I can recover my data? or is it too late?
Go to the link in response #1 and download linux puppy seamonkey burn it, insert the disk and boot from cd/dvd drive.Don't use the hdd unless u have already backup your data.
