Solved HP dm4 laptop will not boot when battery is installed

Specs: Windows 7
I cannot get my DM4-2070us to boot from battery or to boot from A\C when the battery is attached to the laptop. The issue started when I bought a Roswell A\C adapter (I wanted to keep one adapter in the bedroom and one in the living room). When I plugged the Rosewll universal adapter into the laptop, the laptop would not boot. I plugged the HP adapter back in and the laptop would still not boot. Trying different adapters, batterys, etc, I have determined that (1) the batteries are good. I tired both of my batteries in a friends DM4 and they work fine in his laptop. I can boot the laptop on A\C power when the battery is not in the laptop. But, even when plugged into the A\C adapter, I cannot get the laptop to boot with a battery installed. The laptop now only works when the A\C adapter is plugged in and no battery is present in the laptop. I fear that the Roswell universal adapter has damaged the laptop. Have you ever heard of this issue?

Very possibly the universal adapter has caused damage to the motherboard. Only genuine replacement adapter from the laptop manufacturer is recommended, same with replacement battery.

Yes, I learned that lesson the hard way... So, you think I would need to replace the MB in order to get this to work off battery again?
