Its just one long beep continuously repeating between spaces of 2-3 seconds. The beep itself lasts for about 1-2 seconds each.

Looks like RAM problem to me. If you have more than one RAM module, try to boot with each module separately.

I am glad to see you sorted it out. :-)

Just to say, if you have a motherboard which uses two sets of slots, one for dual channel and one for single; make sure you insert the modules in the dual channel slots.
