Specs: Windows Vista Home Basic
Hi, I dropped my laptop and now it says "Non system disk or disk error. Replace and strike any key." I tried connecting a different hdd in case mine was damaged but still the same message. The hdd connector seems intact as does the motherboard superficially after opening it up.. What can I do?

You should take it to a local laptop repair place and have them examine it.They deal with damage caused by dropping a laptop frequently. If yours is not a really recent model, there may be used mboards that are the same as on your model available on the web that have no passwords for a reasonable price.
The hard drive you can connect to another computer one way or another to check it out - just don't attempt to boot from it on the other computer - if the hardware on the other computer is more than a little different, the operating system will not load all the way - that's normal.
