|That setup should be able to handle HD streaming and audio editing. I have a single core Pentium M that can handle 1080p streams without skipping a beat. |
I guess you could overclock the processor--many X2 3800s can handle 2.5GHz without extra voltage. However, it shouldn't be having any trouble at its stock 2.0GHz. Is Flash up to date? What browser are you using? What kind of CPU usage numbers are you getting?
"Admittedly the multi tasking was crap with Windows 3.1 but when Windows switched from co-operative multitasking if Windows 3.1 to pre-emptive multitasking in Windows 95 things improved dramatically."
It was crap with Win95-ME, too. Under Win95, the crappy multitasking and memory management didn't truly matter. By the time I "upgraded" to 98SE, however, I was doing way more with my computer--Premiere, Photoshop, four IE windows open, even more. It got real slow, real fast. Fortunately, Windows 2000 came along and dramatically improved...everything.
