Laptop or desktop? Inbuilt microphone or plugged into the MIC socket of your soundcard? Have you gone into control panel > Sound & Audio devices and set your microphone as the default device for audio & voice recording?

It Is a laptop, inbuilt Microphone. WinXP The Sound&audio shows :
on Voice playback: 'HD audio independent headphone'
on Voice recording : 'HD audio capture'
Done Troubleshooting abd got 'Your hardware cannot play sound' Contact ypur vendor foR INFORMATION. My laptop produces sounds without problem, I can hear people talking on Skype, they do not hear me!

Have you tested the microphone yourself?

Windows and Skype have test facilities.

If it is not working, try an external one.

Here in the UK, this week the 99p shop were selling headphone c/w microphone sets.

Good Luck - keep us postesd.
