Specs: Windows XP
we bought the laptop few days before we used to use it by unplugging the charger
but now it is showing smart disk error

It depends on the actual wording of the error message, but generally it usually means the hard drive is nearing failure and should be replaced as soon as possible.

Confirmation (or otherwise) can be obtained by testing the drive with non-Windows version of diagnostic software such as SeaTools:

SMART errors have nothing to do with the battery or charger, that was just a coincidence.

Hi PC,

with such queries, you need spend time and provide full details asto what happened.

e.g how do you use the Laptop by unplugging the charger?

From the 'sparse' details provided, I wonder if no battery or a dead battery was fitted, and disconnecting the Charger just switched off the Laptop, which may then have corrupted something on the HD.

S.M.A.R.T. errors are raised by error-checking hardware in the drive itself. They mean the drive is failing and should be replaced as soon as possible. If I understand correctly you bought this computer recently. Return it to the vendor for repair or a refund.
