You login to the router home page and go to wifi section.; then security ...

The SSID (router’s name showing as a wifi access point) is a set default by Linksys/cisco, and a default password too

The defaults are usually shown on the base/back of a router; and usually on a card in the box when delivered, and/or n the included user manual

You can change both... but if you do, ensure you make note of what you change either or both to.

There is an option to enable MAC filtering, which has two options: allow “only” the MAC addresses listed to access wifi. or disallow those MAC addresses. The default is MAC filtering is off.

Which exact model router do you have? With that pholks here can direct you more easily to relevant areas of the router, and where to find help in the usre manual.

Find your model number on the list at the following site, then click "Open" next to the Default IP address. The login password is probably "admin". Once you get into the router's setup program, you can change the SSID & create a password.
