Specs: Windows 10, 2.2m 400mb
Hi. I ave been using compatible ink cartridges for a couple of months with excellent results. UNTIL last week I was on line and using the printer when an update came down the line and I then had the error message Total ink system failure. I assume this is HP's way of punishment?

Is yours showing the same error code ?

EDIT: Here's a direct link to the procedure itself which might be easier:

Unfortunately I can't help you with your current issue. I can say this though. Don't accept firmware updates for things like printers if they are working as expected. I had a similar issue recently with an Epson workforce printer. I got tired of the nag screens to update the firmware and finally allowed it. I then started having all manner of print quality issues. I ended up buying a reconditioned print head to solve the problem after trying to roll back the firmware update.

Perhaps you can roll back the latest update. Epson ONLY shows the latest firmware update. I installed from the original CD and did not allow Epson to go online to get firmware and drivers. Ironically, this all happened just after I hawked my model printer here at CN.

Thanks for the replies. I do not use my pc every day. I have tried all options and have unfortunately failed. I think it may be terminally sick. It says on one section of HP blurb to Service the printer head. This can be done by undoing the latch on the model using 364 cartridges, but not 363. (Mine) I will see what the former entails, If I can, I will try stripping mine down to see. If I can repair a VCR I can do this. Cannot make it worse. I will keep trying your suggestions first.
I think I can forget that!!
