Have you checked its warranty status? You say you've used it for 6 months. Is that how old it is or is it older than that but you've only had it for 6 months?

An hp authorized repair shop can fix it so I'm wondering how they justify not fixing it or at least telling you it can be fixed.

In lieu of the HP link JohnW posted, I cannot believe that an HP repair center would tell you that. Are you sure that it is an HP repair center and not a computer store's repair center who is trying to get you to purchase a new computer? If they are an authorized repair center and your computer is/was under warranty, I would contact HP and complain about the quality of service you received. They should have at least attempted to do the BIOS recovery for you, it actually sounds more like you interrupted their coffee break and they could not wait until they got rid of you.... Sorry about the minor rant.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Take the notebook to a HP service center or to the retailer where you bought it.
Warranty should be at least 1 year.

You mean it has a warranty but they say the warranty doesn't cover your problem? Unless you've messed with it or damaged it in a way that voids the warranty then it is covered. I suggest you start getting pissed off at these people instead of just saying 'OK' and shuffling out of their store. Ask them why the warranty doesn't cover it. Ask them why they can't reprogram the bios or replace it or replace the motherboard itself.

Edit Oh wait. In your original posting you said you put in a new hard drive. That would be enough to void a warranty, assuming you did the work yourself. Is that what they told you? Still, they can tell you what it would cost to fix instead of saying it can't be done.

Yea that's what they said to me
When I went to a repair center they charged money only for looking at it.

Normally most shops would waive a diagnostic fee if you went ahead and had them fix it. But they should have given you an estimate charge for getting it fixed. My guess though is they would charge nearly as much to fix it as you could replace it for.

If what they say is true then you can either have them fix it, maybe find another on ebay or just forget about it. Unfortunately there's no magic fix we can give you here.
