Specs: Windows 8
Want to upgrade RAM chips but the are not under the rear cover, so I assume that they are under the front rim cover but I don't see how to remove it.

This guide (p. 18) shows you how to access the memory modules: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manua...

I opened my HP Pavilion 23 (non Touchscreen) and found the single 4gb RAM chip and replaced it with a single 8gb chip (DDR3) and the Computer would not boot. I tried this three times with no luck and am now back to the 4gb chip. Best Buy looked up the compatibility and said that it was the correct 8gb chip so what am I doing wrong?
FYI - there are two chip slots but only the top one is being used.

I would advise you to go to www.crucial.com and run the system scanner to determine exactly what memory your computer can use. There are several different models of the Pavillion 23.

I have done everything suggested using the chip that Crucial recommends, still with no luck. By the way I had bought a set of 4gb chips and was advised to open up the Computer and if there was only one chip, than I should exchange the 2 - 4s for one 8gb which I did. I have a call into "PNY" for some help.
