I am using a Mini Numeric Bluetooth keypad to input finisher times during road races. If the 'enter' is sent during the 1 to 4 seconds it takes the computer to update places, the machine never gets that time. Strategies to minimize or eliminate the problem?

What is the problem?? Takes too long to update the entered value in the application?
What application are you using?
Is this a notebook, desktop, Tablet where the BT is used on? Any details?

Consider a hard wired keypad if possible with your device, it is much more reliable and you are eliminating a relatively large time delay getting the keystroke to the program.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I rewrote to take in and process one keystroke at a time. That helps though it was tricky since my language, JustBasic, only allows this in a special mode.

I did not explain before that I could not find a (reasonably priced anyway) key pad that would display the digits before transmitting leaving quite a bit of uncertainty. You needed someone at the console reading the digits back to you.
