How to Make Ext. USB HDD Bootable with Win XP

Specs: Windows XP, Core 2 Duo / 1.5 GB

I m Vivek and I have 500GB Transcend external USB Disk with 4 partitions on it. On 3 out of 4 partitions I have important Data and I want to use my 4th partition or remaining space of 30 GB for Making this Disk bootable with Win XP. And if possible Dual Bootable with Linux and XP both.

Please Understand that I want to install XP and/or Linux on External HDD.

If anyone have Answers please let me know.

XP does not support booting from an external drive. That is Msoft's official line.
Here's a tutorial that says it can be done and gives you detailed instructions on how to do it. I have no idea whether it works.

Almost any linux distro could be booted from an external usb device.

Why did it take me over a year to phone in a problem to ATT?
