How to get sound working in my browser?

So my computer was just recently fixed from having accidentally installed malware onto it. Everything else is working fine thus far, except my browser no longer plays sound. YouTube videos are silent but the video is as good as ever. My computer still makes sounds, like the startup noise or music on Windows Media Player, but Chrome is not playing any sound. I have uninstalled and reinstalled chrome and checked my drivers but it says it's fine. Help?

Have you checked the sound level in the video itself. Look at the slider at the bottom of the video to see where it's set.

Did you try IE to see if sound is available when using that browser?

Yes the sliders were up and I tried both IE and Firefox with no luck
