Or if you prefer, perform a System Restore in Windows to a point before running driver detective.
IMO you should only use those third party driver programs as a last resort. Also, if the hardware device is functioning OK leave it alone unless Windows indicates there may be a security issue.
What is the issue with your CD drive? Is the drive an internal or external unit? Does it show up in the start up screens before Windows starts?
