What size & what make/model? Does it show up in My Computer? Did you try right clicking on it? Did you look in Disk Management?

Try it out in another computer, and if it doesn't work, it may be broken.

If you don't want to save the data on the drive then try this,

At a command prompt, type "diskpart". It'll ask if you want to allow changes.

Then "list disk"

It'll display the disks/drives in your computer. Find the one that matches your pen drive and note the number.

Now "select disk (put the number here)", example: select disk 3

Type "clean"

It'll remove all partitions on the drive. You can then reformat it using control panel.

You need to prove whether or not the pen drive is faulty.

If it has failed there is not much point formatting it as it will probably give trouble again sooner or later. They are not that expensive and best replaced, after you've retrieved your data - if possible.
