i have a 320 gb hard drive and i need it to be a fat32

Use the HDD manufacturers software. You can download it at their website. Can't tell you what to use because you didn't bother to list the make/model.

i have a WD Caviar Blue 320gb and i tried that but i cant get to 320gb of fat32

You need to use the WDC software. And a 320GB HDD is actually only about 298GB in size.

That's the decimal measurement, Windows uses binary. To do the conversion, divide 320,070,987,360 bytes by 1,073,741,824 bytes/GB. Your HDD's actual capacity is approx 298.09GB.
