How to fix this Blank screen, no boot

November 5, 2015 at 08:27:14
Specs: Windows 7
Blank screen, no boot

It is charged. The blue light (power) light it on; however, the screen is blank/black and nothing is happening.

How do I get this to boot up for me?

Thank you!

Let us have the make and model number of the computer, as we don't even know whether it's a laptop or PC.

If it's a laptop try an external monitor on it, or try another monitor if it's a PC. This will tell us whether the screen or its connections are at fault.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I am so sorry. It is a laptop Acer Aspire E 15, less than a year old. E5-521-23KH. I hope that helps!

Thanks for that. I assume you no longer ever see anything at all on the screen. If so try an external monitor and let us know if it still stays black.

I see absolutely nothing. You'd swear it was turned off... only thing shows that it is alive is the blue light on the front.

I just hooked it up to an external monitor. No dice. Nothing yet.

Thank you for your help, Derek!

Think back to when it was working. Do you think the little start up noises and lights flashing have stopped? I know you are unlikely to have studied them in detail but a lot of folk can sense whether things seem the same or different.

It would be interesting to know what you make of it but it seems about certain that you have a hardware fault of some sort. In which case replacing items in a laptop is not the easiest thing to do even if you know what part is defective and can get your hands on a replacement.

EDIT:
See the post here from "DELL-Terry B" (near the end). I know yours isn't a Dell but the approach is good:
