How to disable login screen function?

June 24, 2009 at 23:13:32
Specs: Windows XP
Hello,
You know the classic windows login screen which has a little window asking for the username and password? The computer by default stores the last succesful login's username as the username box text.
For example, if "Bob" logged in last, Bob is displayed as the username until someone else logs in.
Is there a way to disable this? Is there a way to keep whatever user you type in next on the username box, or display no username by default without changing the login screen?
Thanx!
Please try to email me at
skadfox@gmail.com, if possible.

That link I posted is for changing the setting with Group Policy. If you want to edit it directly in the registry, it is in this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Create a key named "dontdisplaylastusername" and set the value equal to 1.
