Specs: Win 7 Home Professional, 2.5/6G
I have a wireless printer and have not been able to make it recognize-able on a wired network. When I go through the process of installing it to a home computer, my choices are connect with USB or wirelessly. I connect it with USB and install. It prints from the home computer, but I can't see it on the network when I try to add it to another computer. BTW: All the computers on this network do not have wireless capabilities. Any suggestions? thanks,

Does your router output a WiFi signal? If so, did you set up the printer to communicate with the WiFi? The computers don't need to be wireless bout you need a WiFi signal available on the same network for it to work.

To make it a little easier for folks to help you - post the full male and model details of your printer.

Our router puts out a wi-fi signal. The printer is set up to communicate with wi-fi. But none of my computers can access the router or printer. ????

Usually the printer comes with software to install the drivers and set up wireless printing, Have you run that software?

You can't go into printer properties and install a wireless from there the way your would install a wired printer.

Is the touter’s wifi enabled? By default most routers are shipped with Wi-Fi disabled; unless configured and provided by your isp - ready to go.

Your choices basically are:
Set up as wireless printer accessing the network by logging to your set up Wifi user name and key.
Then run the software on each computer to install the printer on each computer.
OR while it is plugged into one computer turn on File and Print Sharing on that computer and share the printer. Then set up the printer to each computer. The MAIN disadvantage to this set up is that the computer it is plugged into MUST be on and awake in order to print to the printer - always (or you will have to make sure before printing).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

You choose to install the Printer on your (home) PC as USB connected, Then you will only be able to print over the USB connection.
What Process have you followed so far to connect your printer over WiFi?
First step would be to connect the printer to the WiFi signal. If you have a WPA protected WiFi then you will have to enter a passphrase on the printer or use the WPS procedure to have the printer connect to the router.
Once the printer is WiFi connected, install the printer software on all the PC's using the WiFi option.

Hp Deskjet 3512 All computers that will use this printer are desktops. I installed the printer on a desktop pc, like i have done on every other computer that I've used for my desktops. Then, on other desktops I open devices and printers, and add a network or wireless printer. Before, when I found the printer I wanted, I installed on the desktop that I'm working on. I then do the same to the rest of the desktops, and this has always worked. But, this printer either doesn't show up on available printers, or shows up as HP Deskjet 3512 (copy 1). And the (copy 1) won't install.

I'm still puzzled.
"I installed the printer on a desktop pc, like i have done on every other computer that I've used for my desktops"
Does the printer work on the "a desktop pc" ??
Do you know the printers IP address? Open the IP address in a browser. It should display the printers web page.

Have you bothered reading the Manual??
HP printers need to have the software installed first. Don't use the "add printer" from the "Device & printers" panel.
In most cases the software will find the printer. If not that means the there is no network connection to your printer. Check the wireless setup of your printer.

What I meant was, I have always directly connected and installed a network printer to one of the pc's on the network using usb. Then I go to the other pc's on the network, click on devices and printers, and click on add a printer. I choose network printer. All of the printers that have been installed on other network pc's show up, and I select and install them. Never had a problem with method before. Printer was donated and don't have a manual.

I finally hard wired the printer to a laptop and installed it. Then all the other computers (desktops) could access that printer, and we are now able to print to that printer from all other pc's on the network. Thanks to all of you gave input regarding my problem
