how to clear an OS on a laptop

Specs: Windows Vista
I want to remove Windows Vista entirely and start with a clean slate to then install Windows XP Professional...can I do this and how? Thanks!

You can do this by inserting the Windows XP CD into the DVD/CD drive and booting from it at startup. To remove the old operating system select the partition on which it is installed and format it. NOTE: All data on that partition of drive will be lost.

Make sure that your laptop has the drivers for XP. If it came with Vista installed, it may not. Check the manufacturer's website for driver info. XP is still a good os, but why not Windows 7?

For starters you need a laptop with a cdrom, an xp install cd, a coa or working keys.

Then you need drivers for xp that will work for hardware designed for Vista.
