how to change settings from secondary master

Specs: none, Intel pentium 4
I have secondhand computer. There's only one IDE slot. It seems there was SATA drive before. I'm trying to install IDE HDD but it recognizes it as secondary master. The jumpers on HDD are set properly to master mode. Don't know have to change settings in BIOS.

the drive is connected to a secondary channel, a single channel can carry up to 2 devices (master & slave). What is the problem?

Are you sure there's only one IDE slot? And no SATA devices are connected?

I don't see anything about SATA ports in BIOS. Where to look for them? Are they named in a different way?
