Specs: Windows Vista
i cannot access my memory stick when it's plugged into a network printer. I decided to get a network, wireless printer as all the usb ports on my laptop are broken.

My Epson Stylus SX515w Wirless printer has a usb port in the front and numerous memoury card slots, i can access the memory cards from my laptop but not the usb, any help with this, please keep in mind that ALL the usb ports on my Laptop are broken

Any help at all would be great.

How do you know the USB ports are broken? Not working is not the same as broken.

Are you trying to use the removable memory in the printer to save files?

What is the full model number of the laptop?

ive had my laptop for about 4 years and with use the bits inside the usb ports are broken, when i try to plug something into them, my laptop either shuts itself down or just doesnt pick them up, so i would say the components are broken. this is why i had got a wireless network printer so i could still print. bearing in mind that my the usbs are the only ports i have, or did have.

i am trying to simply access the memory stick on the printer, to veiw the files on my computer eg, documents, programs etc. doing this when a memory card is inserted is easy, it works straight away but doesnt want to work on the usb port of the printer

my laptop is an Advent 7211

Have you read the manual for the printer to determine if you should be able to access the USB port?

I guess the USB ports may not be serviceable but I sure don't understand how the damage was able to happen.

According to some specs I found (linked below) you do have other options. Look at the specs and then look at what the ExpressCard slot can be used for.

im not sure how the damage happened, but ill take what you have said into account, heck it might just be the sharing options on the usb pen itself ill see if i can change them sometime.

thanks a bunch
