how much ram can i hold

Specs: Windows XP, 2.66/1024
i have a dell dimension 4600c and it say i can only have 2gb max well if i put more in there what will happen will it work and i already know i cant go over 3 and a hafe with xp

-each slot can hold up to ddr 400 1gb sdram dimm
-max mem support 4096mb (some of it will be used by IGP).

upgrade up to 2gb because of the 32 bit cpu and dual channel.


edit: iam sorry looked dimension 4600 instead of 4600c.

If u have 2gb installed u can't add more memory simply because there is no mem slots available.

"2gb ram cards" (2x1gb ddr 400 2.5v) yes u can use them.
