Appears to max out @ 1 Gb of RAM.

...but.....sometimes you can add more RAM than the manufacturer/motherboard specs say, and have it work, depending on the mother board. That can be hit or miss though.

Just another stupid saying...

The specs say it can take 1 gig of ddr. Go to www.crucial.com and run the online scanner to see what type and how much. I think you'd be wasting your money. Save it towards a new computer.

Here is the HP spec site for that PC:

RE: Getting a new PC, well, IMHO, max out the machine as long as you can and as long as it it useable for you. Not everyone is rich and can afford a new computer every 3-4 years.

That PC w/ a P4 2.53 GHz/533 CPU and 1 Gb of Ram would run XP fine; and XP is supported until mid 2014 (as I write this on an old Dell Latitude C400, 1.2 Ghz, 512 Mb Ram, 30 Gb HDD - haha. Hey it works! ;-)

Just another stupid saying...
